FAQ – Important Information for Your Stay

Sommaire

Why do I have to pay a security deposit?

The security deposit is a safety guarantee to protect the apartment from potential damage or violation of the house rules.
It is not charged unless an issue is reported (damage, deterioration, theft, or missing items).
The deposit amount varies depending on the property and is clearly stated before booking.

If you booked via Airbnb
No deposit is requested directly, as all reservations are covered by Airbnb’s AirCover program. This provides protection for both hosts and guests in case of any issues.

If you booked via Booking.com
Reservations made through Booking do not include damage protection like some other platforms.
We have therefore implemented an internal deposit management system using a credit card hold.
This information is clearly stated in the listing on Booking and reconfirmed before booking confirmation.

If you booked through our website or directly
The terms are the same as for Booking.

How is the security deposit handled?

We use a secure credit card hold system via the Stripe platform, known for its reliability and compliance with international banking security standards.

You will not be charged unless an incident occurs.
The hold is automatically released within 7 days after your departure, provided no damage is reported.

Please note: Some banks may display the deposit as a payment, especially if you’re using a debit card. This can be confusing, but no amount is actually debited—your funds remain in your account and are simply on temporary hold.

Why do I have to sign a rental agreement?

Signing a contract is also a legal requirement under the French Tourism Code (Article L. 324-2) for all short-term rentals.
It allows us to:

  • Outline the terms of your stay (dates, number of guests, house rules)
  • Protect both the guest and the property owner

The contract is sent to you electronically via a secure link in a message to help prepare your check-in.
You can easily sign it with your finger (on smartphone) or mouse (on computer), and complete the check-in in just a few clicks.
There’s no need to print anything.

Even if the booking is made through a third-party platform such as Airbnb or Booking.com, this does not exempt us from having a signed rental contract between the host and the guest.

This formality remains essential to comply with French regulations and ensure a clear contractual relationship between both parties.

Why do I need to send a selfie with my ID?

It’s a legal obligation (Article R. 611-42 of the French Code on the Entry and Stay of Foreigners) to verify the identity of guests in tourist accommodations.

This also helps us to:

  • Protect against fraud
  • Ensure the safety of the property and neighborhood
  • Meet our insurance requirements
  • Provide proof of guest identity to the authorities (e.g. police) if requested

We ask for a selfie holding your ID to verify that the document matches the person making the booking.
The documents are handled confidentially and are not shared or kept beyond what is legally required.

If you booked via Airbnb
ID verification is handled directly by Airbnb. You do not need to send your ID again—your booking is already validated through their internal process.

If you booked via Booking.com
Booking does not carry out any ID verification. We therefore need to perform this check ourselves, in accordance with the law and for safety reasons.

If you booked via our website or directly
We also carry out this ID verification ourselves as part of the check-in process, as described above.

And what about the selfie with my bank card—is it mandatory?

To prevent fraud, we must be able to prove that you are the rightful owner of the payment method used in case of a banking dispute.

This verification helps prevent identity theft or card fraud, and protects both legitimate guests and our business.

Only the last 4 digits of the card and the cardholder's name must be visible.
Other information (expiration date, CVV code, etc.) must be hidden for your security.

Why so many verifications?

Because our goals are threefold:

  • To offer you a smooth stay in a clean, safe, and accurately advertised apartment
  • To protect our properties from abuse or unauthorized use
  • To preserve the peace and safety of the neighborhood by avoiding nuisance or inappropriate behavior

These measures help maintain a high level of trust between hosts and guests, and prevent unpleasant surprises for everyone.

If I refuse to complete the check-in procedure, can I still access the apartment?

No. The check-in procedure is mandatory for legal, safety, and insurance reasons.
Without completing all steps (signed contract, verified ID, deposit secured), access to the apartment cannot be granted, even if the reservation has been paid for.

No refund will be issued either, as by confirming your reservation, you agreed to the check-in process and its requirements.

What are the check-in times?

Check-in is available from 4:00 PM.
Before that time, the apartment is usually not ready as our team is cleaning and conducting final checks after the previous guest.

What are the check-out times?

Check-out must be done by 10:00 AM at the latest, to allow our cleaning team enough time to prepare for the next guests.

Can I arrive before 4:00 PM?

Early check-in is generally not possible, to give our cleaning team enough time to prepare the apartment in the best hygienic and comfort conditions.

In exceptional cases, early check-in may be possible if requested several days in advance and only if approved by our cleaning team, depending on guest turnover and scheduling.

This option may incur an additional fee. Please contact us as early as possible to request it.

Can I check out after 10:00 AM?

Late check-out may be available upon prior request and subject to availability, depending on the cleaning schedule and arrival of the next guests.

⏰ All requests must be made by the day before your departure to allow proper scheduling for our team.

This option may incur an additional fee. Please contact us in advance if you wish to request it.

Can I arrive after 11:00 PM?

Yes, in most cases late arrival is possible thanks to our self check-in system.
However, please note that our guest support service is closed after 11:00 PM.

⛔ In case of access issues or technical problems after this time, we cannot be held responsible if you are unable to enter the apartment.

We strongly recommend completing your check-in and retrieving access details well before your arrival to avoid any inconvenience.
